About
Sweetness and the Storyteller is New Zealand songstress, Shelley Mac and Texas rocker, Rod Williams. The duo first met on stage in Austin back in 2010. The chemistry was undeniable and very quickly spilled off stage. Only after a year on the road, the two songbirds eloped!
Shelley Mac first hit the airwaves in 2006 with her New Zealand band, Pearl. Six singles from the band's critically acclaimed debut album ended up on six Kiwi Hit discs, with Life is Beautiful, (incidentally written by Shelley), reaching No 1 of the NZ radio charts.
Rod Williams was signed out of Houston in 2005 with Warner indie label SMG, launching his band, Stillife. A timely introduction to five times Grammy recipient producer, Randy Miller, saw the pair work magic with Rod's debut album. The title track, Beautiful Again, attracted the attention of MTV reality hit series, The Hills, featuring in the season 2 finale.
Between the duo, Shelley and Rod have clocked up some miles and shared the stage with a host of impressive recording artists such as Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Counting Crows, Vertical Horizon, Goo Goo Dolls, Creed and a bunch more respected artists.
A husband and wife collaboration, Shelley's pop sensibility and Rod's Texas rock have been put aside to embrace a more acoustic Americana feel, breathing life into what is a labor of love.... Sweetness and the Storyteller.
